We’ve been patiently waiting for the intimate details inside The Wanted‘s unfortunate break from music—and now we’ve got it!
Hawwtie band member, Siva Kaneswaran, gave us the EXCLUSIVE scoop on the band’s decision to temporarily split, revealing it all happened over a phone call:
“Honestly all I know is that we were on a phone call together and we all agreed — everyone voiced their opinions on how they all wanted to do their own solo things and from that, we released statements—so that’s all I know.”
But why did the boys decide to go their separate ways?!
Siva explained that it was a right place, right time scenario:
“We all agreed to take a break and to pursue individual endeavors after the tour. And there was always a plan to stay together and after The Wanted touring and after our break. We spent the past four years in each other├óΓé¼Γäós pocket, so the timing kind of felt right.”
Fans were extremely upset when the guys announced their semi-split, but Siva confessed that they’ll totally be back as a group— he’s just not sure when:
“I think in the agreement we had, we’ll come back together when we all naturally felt like we’d all come back together. But The Wanted never split up, we never really split up.”
This talented cutie did write almost all of the bands last album, so maybe he’ll be the one to look at if a reunion actually happens!

Siva on why he’s excited to take a break and what exactly he’ll be doing with his downtime…
“I’m just really excited about having that break because we’ve been together for four years and it’s been a long time in each other├óΓé¼Γäós pockets. And I’m just excited to have the opportunity to work on me and I love to write. I’m going to write my ass off and I can’t wait to record some of my own music and I’m really into the indie sound and I might go down that road. And I just can’t wait to work with different artists and producers. I just want to go crazy and be me and I want the fans to know and to see more of me. I’ve always had attention from fashion brands and they keep on giving attention and I had to tone it down before because I was 100% committed to the band. But now I’ve got time to go for it really, so why not? We have our time, so why not go for it?”
Siva talks about his individual sound and why the band’s music held him back…
“I’ve got my own sound in the band and the boys liked me because of my sound. And that’s what I’m going to release. I think I’m going to release a kind of indie sound and go down that road and just bring something new to the table and to the public to hear and to hear something refreshing.”
