To most people, pets become a part of their family as much as a human member.
So when the government tries to rip away a member of your family, you fight!
That’s exactly what a family is doing because the Michigan Department of Natural Resources is trying to take away their pet deer, Lilly.
Five years ago, a pregnant deer was hit by a car outside of the family’s home.
That deer gave birth to Lilly before dying.
Her owner said:
“[Lilly was in] rough shape, but she was alive. I asked the officer if he had any problem if we could try to save her and he said, ‘Go ahead, she won├óΓé¼Γäót last 15 minutes, but give it a try.’ Five years later, she├óΓé¼Γäós a member of our family and we love her to pieces.”
Now, the government is trying to tell them they can’t have Lilly because she’s a wild animal and is dangerous to have at home.
The family fears Lilly will be euthanized because she’s not accustomed to living in the wild.
