Oh no!
ICYMI: On Sunday, The Pretenders singer Chrissie Hynde opened up about her own experience with sexual assault — but shocked MANY by claiming that sometimes women are to blame for getting raped. HUH?!
The I’ll Stand By You singer stated:
“If I’m walking around in my underwear and I’m drunk. Who else’s fault can it be? Technically speaking, however you want to look at it, this was all my doing and I take full responsibility.”
Whoa! That’s so sad, no woman should ever feel responsible for such a horrendous act forced upon them. We can’t say we’re 100% surprised she’s receiving so much backlash.

What’s even sadder is that Miz Hynde didn’t even realize she was saying anything controversial.
She reflected:
“I don’t think I am saying anything controversial, am I?”
Whomp, whomp.
Nonetheless, many of the 63-year-old’s fans have since taken to Twitter to express their disdain (below) for the Brass In Pocket performer’s comments.
I feel sorry for #ChrissieHynde for choosing to remain a victim. I choose to be a survivor. #Rape is always the rapist’s fault. ALWAYS.

Toxic stuff from #ChrissieHynde. Irresponsible to be drunk + wear heels? No, what’s irreponsible is victim-blaming. http://t.co/rExpvdDjJf

I do feel bad for Chrissie Hynde—blaming herself for her own sexual assault—but it’s irresponsible to take that blame and extrapolate it.

Chrissie Hynde is wrong. 100% of rapes have in fact been caused by rapists, not clothes.

Chrissie Hynde says you should dress modestly or it’s your fault if you’re raped. Rape survivors respond. pic.twitter.com/lK1ZV6mfHX

Dear Chrissie Hynde. NOTHING ever justifies the rape or sexual assault of a woman. It’s the abusers fault only. Love. A Man.

Chrissie Hynde saying that dressing provocatively will entice rapists is like saying standing too close to a BBQ will entice cannibals

We hope for Chrissie’s sake she learns from this experience and chooses not victim blame in the future.
Fingers crossed.
