The founders of one of the largest file-sharing sites on the web, The Pirate Bay, are going to prison!!
Gottfrid Svartholm Warg, Peter Sunde Kolmsioppi, Fredrik Neij and Carl Lundstrom were all found guilty of copyright infringement in a Stockholm court yesterday.
The four founders were slapped with a one-year prison sentence and ordered to pay £2.4 million in damages to record label giants!!!
Does this mean the death of torrents and illegal file-sharing as we know it????
Kolmsioppi reassured uses of The Pirate Bay via his Twitter that “Nothing will happen to TPB [The Pirate Bay], us personally or file-sharing whatsoever. This is just a theatre for the media.”
The guilty parties are expected to appeal the verdict and will be holding a press conference to discuss their sentencing in Stockholm later today.
An appeal?
Ha!
Good luck with that, fellas!
