Fiona Apple is the most recent celeb to be busted by the Hudspeth County, Texas border patrol for drug possession. Armie Hammer got caught before her in the exact same spot, while Snoop Dogg and Willie Nelson were arrested there too.
So what’s the deal with this Bermuda Triangle for drug-related arrests?
It turns out that the U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s infamous checkpoint in the town of Sierra Blanca is located on the I-10, which leads directly to El Lay!
When musicians go on tour through the Southwest, it’s not uncommon to take this route and encounter the same drug-sniffing dogs that catch countless drug runners and the occasional celebrity.
Moral of the story? If you’re taking I-10 through Texas…DON’T PACK ANY DRUGS!
And if U can’t go without getting high, stick to weed. A public information officer for the Hudspeth County Sheriff’s Office revealed that if Mz. Apple would have left her hashish at home she just “would have gotten a ticket.”
