It’s been a pretty rough weekend for rock n’ roll with the sad news of the passing of punk icon Lou Reed Sunday morning.
But the industry took another big hit when Fleetwood Mac revealed that one of their founding members and bass player John McVie was diagnosed with cancer.
The legendary band broke the news on their Facebook page and said they would be canceling their upcoming 14 tour dates in Australia in New Zealand while he undergoes treatment.
They wrote:
“We are sorry to not be able to play these Australian and New Zealand dates. We hope our Australian and New Zealand fans as well as Fleetwood Mac fans everywhere will join us in wishing John and his family all the best.”
The band did not go in any detail on what kind of cancer the 67-year-old was diagnosed with in their announcement.
Our positive thoughts go out to John and his family at this tough time, and we hope he’s able to pull through and make a full recovery.
