Jeana Keough’s family is offering an update after revealing her cancer diagnosis.
On Sunday, the Real Housewives of Orange County alum’s daughter Kara announced in a heartbreaking message that at 70 years old, her mother has been diagnosed with tongue cancer:
“A few months ago, while visiting Shane and me in Florida, my mom mentioned a painful spot on her tongue. She assumed a tooth had been rubbing against it and had even gone to the dentist multiple times to have the tooth filed down. I asked her how long the sore had been there. She paused, thought about it, and realized it had been nearly a year. A biopsy confirmed our worst fear: squamous cell carcinoma of the tongue.”
She went on to reveal that what they thought would be “a one-time surgery” turned into “a full cancer battle,” including “chemotherapy, radiation, and immunotherapy.”
So heartbreaking!
Kara launched a GoFundMe for her mother since she’s currently unable to work, and donations QUICKLY began pouring in! So much so that Kimberly raised the initial goal of $22,000 to $90,000! And in less than 24 hours, Tamra Judge, Vicki Gunvalson, Carmella Garcia, Bode Miller, and others offered generous donations. Bravo’s Andy Cohen himself sent $5,000 alone!
On Sunday evening, Kara took to Instagram to share an update and to let followers know how much the generosity means to Jeana. In a Story post showing the reality TV star in a hospital bed, Kara wrote:
“In the ER, working on getting this beauty a G-tube & some fluids ASAP. It’s been especially tough for her this week so thank you for showing her so much love. She cried when I showed her how many of you have donated, sent prayers, and offered advice and help. We’re reading all your encouraging words and my sweet mama is blown away by the kindness and generosity of so many of you.”
Awww. She added:
“As her kid — knowing the scale and depth of her current struggles — I will sleep so much better tonight because of all of you. Thank you from the bottom of my eldest daughter heart. Truly. You’ve helped her in more ways than I can tell you.”

We’re so glad to hear the support is lifting Jeana’s spirits. ![]()
On Monday, Kara’s brother Shane spoke to Us Weekly more about their mother’s diagnosis:
“She’s strong through this. She’s got a good support network down there. Colton, our younger brother, is there [in Orange County, California], so she’s on the right path. But you know, it’s tough for everybody, and we’re just trying to make sure she stays on her program so she’s strong when this is done.”
As for the state of Jeana’s condition, Kara added:
“We don’t know. We won’t know anything. I think she’ll get cancer to bend to her will, like she does with everything else in life. We’re choosing to stay in that mindset.”
We certainly hope so! The 37-year-old left off:
“She refuses to acknowledge that she’s sick, and I think that the cancer will believe her and follow suit.”
Our hearts remain with Jeana and the entire Keough family during this difficult time. Share your supportive words in the comments down below!
