Well this isn’t something you hear about every day!
Florida Rep. Ritch Workman is hell bent on creating more jobs for his people, even if that means banning a law against ‘drawf-tossing!’
The republican has filed a bill to repeal a law banning the “launching little people for the amusement of an audience.”
According to a 2001 statement by Little People of America, the act is defined as:
The person with dwarfism is equipped with a harness around his torso and is spun around and eventually thrown by another person onto mattresses placed on the ground. The person who throws the little person for the greatest distance wins the contest.
Workman says he isn’t a fan of the act, but that banning it is unAmerican:
To me it├óΓé¼Γäós an archaic kind of Big Brother law that says, ‘We don├óΓé¼Γäót like that activity.’ Well, there is nothing immoral or illegal about that activity. All we really did by passing that law was take away some employment from some little people.
As for the humiliation factor, he says the little person making money might not be all that embarrassed, “the reality is what is good for one person may not be good for another.
So what do U think?? If a little person wants to make some cash by doing freestyle acrobatics, should they be able to? Or should the ban remain? But if so, will that support the idea of generalization?
