Bad news for USC’s reputation!
Former USC football player, Lonnie White, admitted to taking $14,000 in illegal payments during the four years he played for the team in the 80s.
He got the money by selling the four season tickets given to each player, which is illegal. White admitted his mistake in a first-person story for The Daily.
White wrote:
“To this day, it’s something I’m ashamed about. Rent was overdue, and my household bills were delinquent. I needed the money to live. So accepting the $14,000 in different forms of ‘benefits’ over my college years three decades ago was an act of survival.”
He continued:
“Even though I knew what I was doing was wrong, it seemed like everyone I knew who played college football enjoyed some type of extra benefits as a player.”
We think the football community will find it in their hearts to forgive him, no matter how wack selling tickets illegally is!
