This is heartbreaking.
Celebrity dermatologist, Fredric Brandt, was found dead in his Miami home on Sunday. He was only 65.
Known as the “Baron of Botox”, the skin care revolutionizer was one of the early advocates of Botox and fillers — and he had quite the A-list clientele, including Madonna and Stephanie Seymour, because of it.
While the cause of his death (some are reporting he hanged himself) has yet to be confirmed, his publicist, Jacquie Trachtenberg revealed to PageSix on Sunday:
“He passed away this morning. He was suffering from an illness. Everyone who knows him is devastated. I worked with him for over 20 years and he was an amazing man, not only was he a brilliant doctor, but he was the kindest human being.”
So sad!
However, prior to his death, Fredric reportedly revealed to Allure‘s Joan Kron feelings of “upset”. She shared:
“When I spoke to him recently, he was particularly upset about a character in the Netflix comedy The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, a dermatologist widely believed to be a fictionalized version of him. Professionally, Brandt was known for his light touch, and he frequently saw patients who’d had bad experiences with other, overzealous doctors.”
The character in question, Dr. Franff, was played by comedian Martin Short, and if “fictionalized”, it was quite the caricature.
We can only hope Dr. Brandt found happiness before his passing. Our thoughts go out to his family and friends.
