Garth Brooks Fires Back -- Sues SA Accuser For Damages AND Names Her In New Court Filing! Whoa!

Garth Brooks Fires Back -- Sues SA Accuser For Damages AND Names Her In New Court Filing! Whoa!

Garth Brooks is turning the tables on his sexual assault accuser — both by naming her in new court docs that he just filed AND suing her for compensatory and punitive damages after claiming that she tried to extort him for a major payday!

As we’ve been covering, Trisha Yearwood‘s world-famous husband has been battling it out in court with an unnamed woman who previously worked for him as a hairstylist. She accused him of some incredibly unsettling acts, including a violent sexual assault during a work trip to Los Angeles back in 2019, as well as other inappropriate conduct. He steadfastly denied those allegations as soon as they were made public, and now, he’s going on the offensive.

On Tuesday, according to documents obtained by Page Six and others, the 62-year-old country music singer filed a new courtroom complaint with the Southern District of Mississippi’s Northern Division. In that filing, he named his accuser — this after he originally attempted to keep her identity private in a previous court filing by asking a judge at the time to grant both parties a right to full anonymity!

As you’ll recall, in Brooks’ first filing, he identified the plaintiff as Jane Roe and noted:

“When Jane Roe threatened to publish lies about him — intending to blackmail Plaintiff into paying her millions of dollars — Plaintiff filed this lawsuit to preserve his reputation, establish the truth, and put a stop to her scheme. For the sake of his family, and out of respect for Roe’s family as well, Plaintiff titled this action ‘John Doe vs. Jane Roe.'”

But Tuesday’s new filing flipped that completely on its head!! Brooks just submitted a secondary request that includes both of their names. So, it’s all out in the open now! In these new docs, he cited the fact that the accuser allegedly leaked his name as the reason for wanting to get it all out there.

In this new filing, the Friends In Low Places singer also requested “compensatory damages proximately caused by Defendant’s intentional infliction of emotional distress, defamation, and false light invasion of privacy, including incidental and consequential damages,” as well as “punitive damages in an amount sufficient to deter similar future behavior.” So, he’s going after her for money, now, too!!

Brooks also noted that any monetary damages awarded to him “cannot adequately compensate” for the hit his reputation has taken in recent weeks, while adding:

“Defendant will suffer no hardship from an injunction of her wrongful conduct, while Plaintiff will suffer irreparable harm if no injunction is issued.”

Ultimately, the country crooner is standing by his initial denials of the alleged sexual assault and misconduct. He repeated in this new filing that the “allegations are not true,” and requested “a declaratory judgment that Defendant’s allegations against him of sexual misconduct are untrue.”

The story, as he tells it, is that the accuser indeed worked for him as a hairstylist for about 15 years as an independent contractor. Then, in 2020, she relocated to Mississippi. There, she supposedly fell into financial hardship and began to request “financial assistance” from the superstar performer. After that point, Brooks alleges, things only turned more and more intense as time progressed:

“Plaintiff complied out of loyalty, friendship, and a desire to improve Defendant’s condition. But Defendant’s demands for financial assistance only increased, with Defendant ultimately asking Plaintiff for salaried employment and medical benefits.”

And now, we’re here. Thus, Brooks’ camp is very candidly alleging that she’s out for a payday. Oof!

But the woman’s lawyers are already fighting back — HARD!!! In response to the recording artist’s latest legal filing, the woman’s attorneys — Douglas H. Wigdor, Jeanne M. Christensen, and Hayley Baker — released a statement to Page SixUs Weekly, and others. In it, they slammed Garth for naming the woman in his new filing and demanded “maximum sanctions” against him:

“Garth Brooks just revealed his true self. Out of spite and to punish, he publicly named a rape victim. With no legal justification, Brooks outed her because he thinks the laws don’t apply to him. On behalf of our client, we will be moving for maximum sanctions against him immediately.”

Whoa!!

Clearly, things are getting really, really heated. Thoughts, y’all? Share ’em (below)…
