You’d think you would have to do something pretty AWFUL to get kicked out of college. But all it took for Danielle Powell to be expelled from Grace University was being gay.
Just months away from graduation, the school dismissed Danielle after they had confirmed her relationship with then girlfriend, Michelle Rogers. And then they sent Danielle A TUITION BILL for the semester she wasn’t even allowed to attend!
Grace University, a conservative Christian college, asked Danielle to pay more than $6,000 in charges. She of course said NO WAY! And now she’s getting an outpouring of support.
An online petition has already gotten over 64 THOUSAND signatures (you better believe we added our name to the list)!
When hip-hop artist Macklemore heard what Danielle was going through he was shocked that this could happen in 2013! He tweeted out:

Macklemore and Danielle have a previous connection: it was at his concert last year that Danielle asked Michelle to marry her LIVE on stage!

In addition to marrying the person she loves, Danielle might have another happy ending to this TERRIBLE turn of events: she was recently offered a FULL scholarship to Roosevelt University in Chicago.
