George Clooney Picks His Next Directing Job

George Clooney is a marvelous man and a marvelous actor, but he’s also a pretty dang good director.
Following his political drama The Ides of March, Clooney has decided to bring another political story to the big screen.
Obama‘s Hollywood BFF will direct a film based on an article called The Yankee Commandante, which was published in the May 28 issue of The New Yorker.
The article tells the true story of an American named William Alexander Morgan who helped Fidel Castro overthrow the Cuban government.
After joining Che Guevara as a Comandante in the new regime, he was accused of working for the U.S. intelligence and imprisoned. While he was causing all sorts of dramz in Cuba, the American government was busy trying to figure out his motives for treason and who he was working for.
Clearly, this is right up Clooney’s alley and we’re looking forward to seeing how he carefully crafts the story into a feature film. No word on whether he’s starring in it yet, but if his previous directorial efforts are any indication, he probably will.
