Whoa. This is terrifying! The children of a German steakhouse heiress were reportedly kidnapped on New Year’s Eve!
According to German newspaper Bild, Christina Block‘s two children were watching fireworks in the Caféodora restaurant in Gråsten, Denmark with their dad Stephan Hensel — but shortly after midnight on Monday, the young kids were snatched! Per The Telegraph, Danish police revealed a group of men knocked the father to the ground and began attacking him before they fled the scene with Klara, 13, and Theodor, 10. They left in two rental cars with German license plates. What’s especially concerning is they haven’t been seen since — and it’s unclear if the cars crossed the border into Germany. They were reportedly only about 10 miles away, so it’s possible they got all the way to another country. Yikes.

Police from Denmark and Germany are currently investigating the kidnapping — and specifically determining “whether there is a connection between the night’s events and the question of parental authority,” authorities told the outlet. Jeez. This could all be part of a custody battle?! WTF!!
The co-parents have been fighting over custody since their divorce in 2018 — and this isn’t the first kidnapping scare they’ve faced. HUH?!? Christina, the daughter of steakhouse tycoon Eugen Block (who has an estimated fortune of $330 million, per German newspaper Hamburger Abendblatt), reportedly told German media once that her ex-husband “kidnapped” their two youngest kids in 2021. The children had been visiting their dad in Denmark but failed to return to their home in Hamburg as planned. Stephan claimed they refused to go back to Germany. A legal battle kicked off in both countries and resulted in two very different rulings.
Per The Telegraph, the German court ruled that Hensel should return the kids to his ex-wife, but the Danish courts said that the kids should stay with their father and granted Christina visitation rights. It’s unclear how they handled that after. The former couple also shares two older kids, 17-year-old Johanna, who lives with Stephan voluntarily, and Greta, 15, who lives with Christina, the New York Post reported.
If this latest kidnapping scandal is somehow connected to the custody battle that is so f**ked up! Of course, if it isn’t… it could be much worse. As of Tuesday, there’s been no sightings of the kids so far — and no ransom demand. We hope they’re okay!
