A German town suffered a Willy Wonka-inspired industrial accident on Tuesday when a factory leak paved the streets in sweet, beautiful chocolate.
According to local newspaper Soester Angzeiger, a “small technical defect” involving the storage tank at DreiMeister chocolate factory caused a deluge of milk chocolate to spill out on the streets of Westoennen.
The milk chocolate quickly hardened once it hit the cold pavement, making a mess that took about 25 firefighters to clean up. Officials had to pry the sticky spill off with shovels and used hot water and torches to remove the rest from cracks and holes.

Factory boss Markus Luckey told the paper that DreiMeister would be up and running again by Wednesday, noting that it would have been “a catastrophe” had the spill happened closer to Christmas.
In such a case, authorities would likely call local hero Augustus Gloop into action.
