There was so much to enjoy during last night’s new episode, we hardly know where to begin! The debut of Rachel├óΓé¼Γäós gay dads? The return of Blaine? Or maybe the most highly anticipated kiss in TV history???
We’ve got that – and more! – in our latest Glee recap! But first, the formalities…
WARNING: REMOVE YOUR EYES FROM THE FOLLOWING POST IMMEDIATELY IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN LAST NIGHT’S GLEE. THERE ARE SPOILERS AHEAD AND YOU MIGHT NOT BE PLEASED IF SOME OF THE SURPRISES ARE RUINED FOR YOU. MIGHT WE SUGGEST SOME OF THE OTHER WONDERFUL POSTS WE’VE WRITTEN TODAY? THE ONE BELOW THIS POST PERHAPS. A G’DAY TO YOU.
And now, let’s talk looooooove.
We might as well just come right out and say it: Brittanna kissed! Sound the trumpets! Bring in the band! Get a skywriter to cover the heavens with “WooHoos!” Santana and Brittany finally locked lips, much to the satisfaction of their fandom if we’re understanding Twitter and Tumblr correctly. We believe they actually were trending for a little while there! How lovely!
But their kiss almost didn’t happen (gasp!) after McKinley’s new Christian student found he wasn’t too comfortable with their displays of affection. Enter Joe Hart, the newest transfer student at McKinley, played by the Glee Project’s co-winner Samuel Larsen. True to his prior discussions with Ryan Murphy on the reality show, Samuel’s character is a “Teen Jesus” who has to explore the limits of his faith when it comes to being in a public school with many, many, MANY different kinds of students and beliefs. He comes around though, sharing the solid mantra, “Love is love!” Good for you, Joe! That kind of attitude might definitely get you in good with a certain blonde you were making puppy dog eyes at all episode!
Elsewhere, Artie and Rory, the other Glee Project kid, decided they would duel to the death for the affections of one Sugar Motta. BTW – we so want to be best friends with her. She’s McKinley’s very own Oprah!! Anyway, after several attempts on both sides to win her love with presents, the boys throw down in a final battle … with song. While Artie’s resurrection of a Mario classic that would have won us over, Rory walked away with the girl with his Michael Buble number and his fib about being deported. At least, we think he was lying. He seemed a little confused when Sugar brought up his being deported and her father buying Ireland at the dance. Or did we misunderstand that moment?
But the two HIGHlights of the episode came from Glee’s resident divas. First, Amber Riley could have mopped her kitchen floor seven times over last night with the amount of tears shed nationwide over her rendition of Whitney Houston’s I Will Always Love You. It was a fitting tribute to the legend from a girl who is well on her way to making a name for herself. Powerful. Moving. A++++!
Finally, everyone in the world is going to want their own set of gay dads now that we’ve all met the Berry men. We’ll admit, we were skeptical at first, but Jeff Goldblum and Brian Stokes Mitchell met every single one of our expectations. If they don’t invite us over for “dinner theater” soon, we’ll just die! The Daddies De Berry arrive just in time for Rachel and Finn to announce their engagement, which both Kurt and Quinn are wholeheartedly against, as are Finnchel’s parents. However, the game plan seems to be to use reverse psychology on the teens, hoping that they’ll realize on their own that they’re making a huge mistake. So far, the plan is backfiring and the wedding is in May. (That is, unless you’ve seen the promo…)
Oh! And how could we forget: Blaine is back! And his eye is healed! And he shows up JUST as that kid Karofsky makes a surprise appearance as Kurt’s secret Valentine’s day admirer. He professes his love to Kurt, who has to turn him down because he’s dressed like a gorilla he already has a BF. Karofsky just can’t catch a break, huh? That bear needs a hug!
All and all, an episode very reminiscent of season one, if we may say so. Plenty of music that appeals to everyone, a lot of laughs and some real heart. This one is a definite new favorite.
And next week … Regionals! (And wedding bells???)
A Few Side Notes:
A. We really hope Quinn and Kurt get over their aversion to the Finnchel nuptials. Yes, they are too young. Yes, this is all happening too fast. But damn it – we want to see Kurt as a bridesmaid!!!
B. PRAISE the God Squad. We’re glad they took over the room formerly occupied by the Celibacy Club. (That ship has sooo sailed.)
C. We’re officially adding the Joan Crawford ice bath to our regiment. Thanks Rachel Berry.
D. Honesty. Respect. Dance. = New Mantra.
E. Dear Future BF: Send us a “Vocal Valentine” or just don’t bother.
