What an awkward and unfortunate moment…
Good Morning America host Amy Robach is apologizing for her use of the phrase “colored people” during a broadcast this morning while discussing the issue of diversity in Hollywood.

The remark, which initially sent social media into a spiral of controversy and anger, came during an interview segment while Robach was discussing issues of productions hiring white actors in roles meant for non-white performers and vice versa when discussing Zendaya‘s rumored role in next year’s Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Oof.
After the show, according to the Associated Press, Robach immediately issues a statement in which she called the incident “a mistake” and said she meant to say “people of color.”
She added:
“[It is] not at all a reflection of how I feel or speak in my everyday life.”
Yeah, one would hope.

Statement or not, though, the damage was done — and social media users everywhere have been up in arms today with the issue, including some tweeting (below):
Ok @GMA please talk to #amyrobach. If she says #coloredpeople again I’ll have to find a new a.m. program to watch-she gets a pass this time
