The internet has found itself a new spirit animal this week, and they’ve affectionately named it #GreenShirtGuy.
The Arizona man went viral on Wednesday after a video circulated social media showing him laughing hysterically at a pair of Donald Trump supporters who were protesting Tucson’s “sanctuary city” resolution.
He was also wearing a green shirt, hence his internet moniker.

Soon after local reporter Nick VanZint posted the video, it was shared by thousands of social media users who couldn’t help but applaud the polo-wearing hero — who, by that point, was officially dubbed #GreenShirtGuy — for busting out in a fit of giggles.
See some funny reactions (below).
And thus, an internet star was born.
The incident went down at the Tucson City Council meeting on Tuesday night during a vote to put a sanctuary city measure on the November ballot. For those who don’t know, sanctuary cities limit their cooperation with the federal government’s effort to enforce immigration law — which is obviously a devout Trump supporter’s worst nightmare, because… MAGA.
The woman in the video wearing a red MAGA hat is a prime example of this. As you can see in the clip, she appears to be filming the event on her phone and holds up a sign that reads, “Respect our laws or we will deport you! No sanctuary for criminals.”
She then starts shouting in the middle of the meeting:
“This city does not change or defy immigration laws. That is Congress’s job to change immigration laws.”
Yeah, yeah. Build us a wall and get over it, gurl.
Other audience members immediately respond to her cries with boos and jeers, while the camera pans to everyone’s favorite #GreenShirtGuy laughing his ass off.

The woman is undeterred, though. As the man with her holds up another protest sign, she continues:
“You were put in office to protect American citizens. American citizens. Respect our laws.”
As a police officer starts to escort the protestors out, the woman accuses the city’s mayor of being in direct violation of the oath taken to defend the U.S. Constitution — to which someone else in the audience replies:
“You’re in direct violation of being a jackass.”

Tucson first declared itself an “immigrant-welcoming city” in 2012, but thousands of residents have recently banded together to demand the city officially enforce “immigrant-friendly” initiatives.
The move has been met with outrage from Trump supporters and the Pima County Republican Party, which filed a lawsuit last month to keep the “sanctuary city” initiative off the November ballot. But they were too late: the Pima County Recorder’s office had already certified more than 12,400 signatures for the measure — over 3,000 more than needed to qualify for the election day vote.
Sounds like Arizona Republicans have little to laugh about.
