Hailey Bieber was not feeling too Holy on Sunday!
Over the weekend, the model took to her Instagram Story to share her frustration with pastors getting lazy and hackneyed with their sermons, spitting:
“pastors and preachers really love to just put words together with the same letter and act like it’s HITTING so crazy…
‘there’s blessing in the brokenness’
‘there’s grace in the gratitude’
S**t drives me bananas”
Oof! Preach it, gurl! LOLz! For real though, what an incisive — and rare — critique of church from a churchgoer!

She then shared a meme of Elmo raising his hands to the sky with a fire burning in the background, adding:
“And then people sit there like this eating it up! Anyways…”

This comes as the Rhode founder was blasted online for seemingly liking a shady post about Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco — claims her rep denied. What do they have in common? It kiiiinda seems like Hailey is entering a new IDGAF era!
There have also been persistent rumors that her marriage to Justin Bieber is on the rocks. They’ve tried to hit back at the reports, but fans are still worried something could be going on, especially as the pop star has been accused of using hard drugs (something his team insisted was not true, even as he posts videos of himself hitting a bong and surrounded by a cloud of smoke).
While the couple has tried to prove they’re on the same page about everything, it’s quite inneresting to see Hailey calling out the church when her husband is still sharing plenty of his own religious messages on the platform! Is this a sign there really are issues in the marriage? Like they’re not on the same page? Or maybe it suggests they are doing their own thing when it comes to faith these days?
Remember, they’ve been burned in the past by religious leaders. Justin wasn’t just a devout follower of Pastor Carl Lentz of Hillsong, he was a personal friend. So that guy turning out to be a sex pest? It must have been a huge blow! It doesn’t mean they’re necessarily questioning their spirituality… but maybe their institutions? Once you see the big business religion gets turned into, it’s tough to unsee. Just like it’s hard to unhear lazy lyrical rhetoric — even at Sunday service! Maybe Justin and Hailey are just through with that kind of church??
