Hangover Director Defends Decision To Fire Mel

He really didn’t have to though. We all pretty much got it.
For a split second, it had seemed like Mel Gibson had been given his career back, scoring a coveted spot in the cast of Hangover II. The whole world was abuzz about the news, but not in a good way. What was good for Mel didn’t seem right for everyone else, including of the cast’s main guys, Zach Galifianakis.
Though it wasn’t confirmed, many believe it was because of Zach protesting that Mel got fired from the movie. Now, the director, Todd Phillips, has decided to defend his decision. He explained to sources:

“He’s one of our finest actors and, quite honestly, one of our finest directors. But The Hangover II is a family … and as much as I loved the idea, a lot of people didn’t … I didn’t want anything to come in between that family.”

Sounds like Zach got his way to us!
Wonder if anyone will ever consider Mel a “fine” actor again?
