This weekend sure wasn’t Hannah Brown‘s finest hour, and the fallout from it continues today…
The former leading lady for the most recent season of The Bachelorette has seen her star fade quickly in the last 48 hours after a viral video showing her using the N-word while singing part of a song made its way across social media. As we’ve reported, Brown tried to get ahead of things by apologizing quickly, but the outrage only appears to have gotten louder in the last 24 hours!

Now an insider is speaking to E! News about the whole ordeal, and it sounds like the Alabama native finally understands how bad she screwed up. Reflecting on her whirlwind weekend, the sourced dished on Hannah’s unfortunate choice of words on that livestream, saying:
“Hannah is extremely upset and embarrassed over the situation. She hadn’t realized what she’d done until after the fact, and is so disappointed in herself. It was a huge mistake and she feels awful.”
Yeah… no kidding!!!
Immediately after the video first surfaced online, the source reports the former pageant queen immediately got in touch with close friend Tyler Cameron and his BFF, Matt James, in an attempt to seek advice and assistance. According to the insider, she also wanted to reach out and offer an apology to James, who is black, before the social media s**t storm really hit hard. The insider added:
“Hannah immediately reached out to Matt James and apologized for her actions. He was definitely taken back, but knows Hannah did not mean what she said. They are close friends and have spent a good amount of time together and he knows it’s out of Hannah’s character. Matt is looking to the positives in the situation and wants Hannah to learn from this. He and Tyler discussed things and they both agreed they know Hannah is not racist at her core, but both think she needs to use her platform to learn from this and spread awareness.”
That’s certainly a generous reaction to Hannah’s viral video — and one that many fans and social media followers haven’t afforded her.
Even fellow Bachelor Nation stars haven’t been super-generous with Hannah’s unfortunate err in judgment here. As we reported earlier on Monday, one-time Bachelorette leading lady Rachel Lindsay was critical of Brown in her own Instagram livestream video first posted to the social network on Sunday night. In her response, Lindsay revealed she’d also spoken directly to Brown about the incident, in an effort to impart just how serious of an offense it was for her to use that word in any context.
Whew.
From The Bachelorette, to Dancing With The Stars, to social media’s golden girl, to… this. Yikes. Life comes at ya fast, doesn’t it?!
