If only we could sound the alarm at Hogwarts for such magical and happy news!
Rupert Grint and his longtime girlfriend, British actress Georgia Groome, are expecting their first child together. A rep for the Harry Potter alum confirmed the pregnancy announcement to E! News on Friday:
“Rupert Grint and Georgia Groome are excited to announce they are expecting a baby and would please ask for privacy at this time.”
Yay, how exciting!

This report comes just days after the parents-to-be were spotted out together on Thursday in London and Groome’s headline-making baby bump was proudly on display — you can try to guess how far along Georgia looks in the pics HERE. We hope the happy couple continues to take precaution and practice social distancing during the coronavirus pandemic, especially now with a baby on the way!
For those who didn’t know, the 31-year-old Ron Weasley portrayer and 28-year-old English thespian have been dating on and off for years but they mostly keep their relationship private — no social media PDA of any kind or casually name-dropping each other in interviews.
The two sparked engagement rumors last year after the Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging star was spotted with a gold band on her ring finger, according to E!, but it appears that sighting might’ve been a one-off and the pair will celebrate their milestone as parents together first!
As we mentioned earlier, the couple usually keeps things private but Grint did open up about the idea of kids to The Guardian back in 2018:
“I’d like to settle down and have kids soon.”
He even joked about the possibility of naming his child after his famous Harry Potter character if it were a boy:
“If I had a son, would I call him Ron? It’s quite a good name, but probably not. And Grint’s a tough name to pair a one-syllable first name with.”
Well, he’s not wrong about the one-syllable thing. It might also be a LOT of pressure for his son to carry such an iconic mokier and there’s always the possibility they could have a girl. Perhaps they might consider Hermoine instead? Ha!
