This is honestly probably going to be one of the craziest viral stories you’ll read this year. And we low-key kind of love it!!!
A Houston-area family has been suffering under the spell of an apparently-haunted Elsa doll, which originally was supposed to just recite phrases from Frozen before things started to get, ummm, a little wacky.

It all started back on Christmas Day, 2013, when Emily Madonia‘s daughter received it as a gift. The doll sang songs like Let It Go, and recited catchphrases from the hit Disney movie every time a button on its necklace was pressed. And for a while, everything was normal.
Until about two years later, that is… Emily explained the whole thing to Click 2 Houston, saying (below):
“For two years it did that in English. In 2015, it started doing it alternating between Spanish and English. There wasn’t a button that changed these, it was just random.”
Madonia insists her kids never did anything to tamper with the doll — no battery changes, etc. — so there’s no apparent reason why it would simply switch to Spanish.
Huh.
Trash or Treasure?
But the Spanish-language update is only scratching the surface on this crazy story.
The real weird stuff began to happen this past December, six years after the fam first acquired the doll when they tried to toss it out during a bid to get rid of some stuff they no longer used.

Weeks after throwing the doll out in the trash, Madonia says she found it inside of a bench in the fam’s living room! WTF?!
The flabbergasted mom explained it more:
“The kids insisted they didn’t put it there, and I believed them because they wouldn’t have dug through the garbage outside.”
At that point, Elsa then began to only sing in Spanish, too! CREEPY!!!
After attempting to throw the doll away a second time — burying it at the bottom of the garbage can only for the fam’s youngest daughter to find it sitting outside their home several days later — Madonia updated the story on Facebook.
She sounds spooked, and understandably so, in writing out the sordid tale of terror:
“Ok guys, seriously, we need help. To recap for those of you who have not been following our Elsa doll saga, Mat threw it away weeks ago and then we found it inside a wooden bench … We were weirded out and tightly wrapped it in its own garbage bag and put that garbage bag INSIDE another garbage bag filled with other garbage and put it in the bottom of our garbage can underneath a bunch of other bags of garbage and wheeled it to the curb and it was collected on garbage day. Great, right? We went out of town, forgot about it. Today Aurélia says, ‘Mom, I saw the Elsa doll again in the backyard.’ HELP US GET RID OF THIS HAUNTED DOLL.”
OMG!!!

When she was asked if somebody was somehow pulling a prank on her, Madonia kept reverting back to logic — but again, a story this weird sort of defies logic, doesn’t it??
She said:
“The doll has some marker on her from my daughter coloring over the years, so I know the doll that reappeared was the original and not a replacement. … Most logical thinkers believe it’s a prank, but I don’t understand how or when it was done, especially because the garbage truck had taken it away.”
This is SO freakin’ weird.

The Final Attempt…
The second garbage incident was enough to convince Madonia that something else was going on — and it prompted her to mail poor little Elsa, in a box without a return address, to a family friend up in Minnesota. Madonia opined on the delivery, giving perhaps the quote of the century in conclusion:
“If the doll comes back, I might have to open my mind to some of the more supernatural solutions.”
LOLz!!!!
Lucky for her, though, family friend Chris Hogan received the doll just fine up at his Minnesota home, and promptly taped it onto the front of his Jeep — where it will sit until, well, anything crazy happens.

Hogan shared one final update on the doll’s (apparently) final fit and potential future resting place, writing back to Madonia:
“… and now for the rest of the story. She made it to Minnesota, and she is taped to the brush guard of my Jeep. If anything weird happens I’m welding her into a steel pipe and sinking it in Lake of the Woods.”
