Trends can mean a few things. They can mean fads or things boosted by a popularity based on who is doing it rather than why they’re doing it. Or they can mean and actual movement towards something that can be helpful — and the more people that know about them, the more used they become.
This list is mostly the latter!
PATIENT REFERRALS
Doctors will probably start referring people to trainers to help out with fitness and wellness! Just giving out guidelines might not cut it anymore!
WELLNESS COACHES
Wellness coaches not only help track what’s been done, but they also help you make decisions that will stick. They’re there to help cater a plan to your needs!
WORKER INCENTIVE PROGRAMS
Wellness competitions, incentives. Business will probably be looking into prizes and bonuses to keep people healthy — which means less sick time and more productivity for them!
SPORT SPECIFIC TRAINING
No longer just for the pros, even the regular joe wants to improve in their sport of choice — this include workouts and fitness regiments that target specific areas to most help out a performance!
SPINNING
This kind of seems like a trend already, as we’re already pretty tired of hearing people go on and on about spinning — but it works! Spinning specific studios are beginning to pop up, too!
REACHING NEW MARKETS
Tapping into the 80% of Americans who don’t have a set physical activity plan will be something that everyone seeks out. If you can tap into that market, not only will people be healthier, but you’ll probably get rich in the process.
OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES
Going outdoors is getting popular again! That fresh air and the fun of it is irresistible — expect to see trainers and programs making the shift.
BOOT CAMP
Just like spinning, this is already a popular program. It’s grueling, but it gets results.
HEALTH IN THE OFFICE
Yeah, you’ll probably start seeing yoga in the office, or even more people sitting on exercise balls at least!
YOGA
Add this to spinning and boot camp! Yoga is a wonderful way to stay healthy and in shape. More and more people are learning about it!
FUNCTIONAL FITNESS
Using yourself and the world around you to work out. Lifting things, climbing, running — improving your balance and using your own momentum.
ZUMBA
Anyone else tired of hearing the word Zumba already?? Well it’s about to get worse — the dance fitness program is exploding!
GROUP PERSONAL TRAINING
No longer will you have to work out one on one if you don’t want to… bring a friend and learn at the same time!
CORE TRAINING
Stabilizing muscles of the abdomen, thorax, and back are essential to looking great in the middle AND sports!
PERSONAL TRAINING
Like group training, this one you do on your lonesome. But you get that specific attention from your trainer!
CHILDREN AND OBESITY PREVENTION
Keeping that youth healthy and not sedentary will HAVE to be a big role coming up — watch the nation shift it’s focus to our kids!
IMPORTANCE OF DIET WITH WORKING OUT
Now, working out won’t be the only thing to keep in shape. Diets will be huge!
OLD PEOPLE FITNESS
Gotta keep them mobile and healthy! Not only will they play more Wii, but also have more programs designed for them!
STRENGTH TRAINING
People are going to start leaving aerobics-only programs behind, and start strength training in addition!
MORE CERTIFIED FITNESS PROFESSIONAL
This job has been on the rise, big time! Expect more and more people to be getting their certifications!
There you go, guys! Expect to see all these this year!!
