Police are searching for a personal trainer who mysteriously disappeared in South Carolina last week.
According to the Lexington Police Department, 39-year-old Elena Katherine Moore has been missing since Thursday, June 11. She was last seen at Planet Fitness in Lexington, which she frequents. WIS 10 reported Elena signed in at the location at 6:40 p.m., and she left a few hours later before wandering off toward a wooded area behind a Lowe’s Home Improvement Store. The Lexington Police Department shared that recently obtained camera footage showed she also walked through a Publix parking lot at 9:17 p.m. that day. Check it out (below):

And no one has seen her since then! Her husband reported her missing the following day, and law enforcement launched a search for her. However, they haven’t found Elena yet. Police reportedly used drones to search the woods near the Lowe’s on Friday but to no avail. There were still no signs of Elena on Monday when officers returned to canvass the area. However, cops made it clear in an update about the case following the operation:
“This was not a recovery operation, but rather a precise effort to rule out one less place Ms. Moore could be.”
Lexington Police Department investigator Missy Silcox told WIS 10 that cops believe Elena had her phone with her at the time of her disappearance, but that it was not pinging as of Monday. She further noted law enforcement do not suspect foul play and do not believe Elena is in imminent danger at this time. But Silcox told ABC News that “this is very out of character for her,” adding:
“We’re just hoping tips come in. Even the smallest tip could be the biggest thing for us to crack open this case.”
Elena was wearing an olive green zip-up hoodie and black athletic pants when she vanished. She is described as a white female with brown hair and brown eyes, 5 feet, 7 inches tall, and approximately 120 lbs. See more of the last pictures of her (below):
