This is absolutely WILD!
On Friday, Brookville High School track and field star Kaelen Tucker was competing at Liberty University in a 4×200 meter relay, according to WSLS 10. Things seemed to be going well for her in the Virginia State High School League Championships as she was catching up to fellow competitor, Alaila Everett, as shown in a video that’s now gone viral.
No, the moment hasn’t gone wide because of some miraculous moment in sports history… It’s because it’s one of the most shameful moments! See, as Kaelen was close to passing up her competition when suddenly Alaila hit her in the back of the head with her baton! She hit her HARD, too — sending Kaelen stumbling off of the track!

The teenager falls to her knees right before the video ends, and the entire stadium can be heard freaking out over the shock incident. Ch-ch-check out the video (below):
Absolutely terrifying! The outlet reported Kaelen was assessed by a doctor shortly afterward and was told she had a concussion and a possible skull fracture. She got hit HARD… poor girl.
While speaking in an interview to WSET, Kaelen described the scary moment:
“I was so in disbelief. I didn’t even know what happened. I just know I got hit in the head, and I just fell off the track. I still can’t believe it. I’m still in shock. But I’m still trying to take it all in.”
The teenager’s mom, Tamarro Tucker, said the entire high school Everett goes to — IC Norcom High School — was disqualified for poor sportsmanship. Alaila did her own interview with a news outlet. She said the whole thing was an “accident” though. Sorry, WHAT?! In what world is that an accident? We all saw it!
She was in tears talking to WAVY TV, though, declaring:
“Nobody is going to believe me because I can admit from the video it does look purposeful. But I know my intentions and I would never hit anybody on purpose. After a couple times of hitting her, my baton got stuck behind her back like this, and it rolled up her back. I lost my balance and, when I pumped my arms again, she got hit.”
Hmm… We mean, it does look like her baton got stuck on Tucker’s back at one point in the clip, but the strike also looked pretty damn aggressive. She also expressed frustration because her opponent was “physically hurt” but no one is “thinking of my mental [health]”. Yeah, folks are worried about the girl who got smacked in the head with a baton! Shocking!
What do U think? Anyone buying her story this was an accident? See Alaila’s interview (below):
Regardless, the injured teen’s mom is upset because she claims neither Alaila nor her team ever apologized to Kaelen for the incident. She told WSET:
“My whole thing was no apology. Like, no coaches, no athlete, no anything. Even if it was an accident — which I don’t believe it was — but nothing. And it’s been more than 24 hours now. So I guess that was the major thing. My child was hurt and nobody came to check on her.”
So, so awful if true.
In a statement to People, the Virginia High School League said they’re investigating the incident:
“The actions taken by the meet director to disqualify the runner were appropriate and correct. We thoroughly review every instance like this that involves player safety with the participating schools. The VHSL membership has always made it a priority to provide student-athletes with a safe environment for competition.”
We hope Kaelen makes a full recovery and is able to get back on track soon. Thoughts, Perezcious readers?
