Hoda Kotb
Hoda Kotb
has come a long way — and we couldn’t be happier for her!
While appearing on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday night, the 53-year-old sat alongside her new cohost, Savannah Guthrie, while discussing finding success after Matt Lauer‘s departure from the Today show. Plus, she shared her HILARIOUS story about her first on-air experience on local news.
Let’s start with the goodies.
When the late night host asked about Hoda’s humble beginnings as a TV journalist, she remembered being so nervous when she had to fill in for the station’s lead news anchor at the time, Ann Martin, who she described as a legend at the station.

The NBC personality recalled:

“I still remember the prompter: ├óΓé¼╦£Good evening. I’m Hoda Kotb, Ann Martin is off.’ I remember being so nervous, and the guy cued me├óΓé¼┬ªI looked at the prompter and said: ├óΓé¼╦£Good evening. I’m Ann Martin, filling in for Hoda Kotb.'”

LOLz! What a gem.
Then, when discussing Kotb’s promotion to full-time co-anchor on the popular morning show, the new mom said of her instant connection with Guthrie:

“Savannah and I started anchoring together and it’s weird. If you’ve ever met a friend and had a moment and said, ├óΓé¼╦£Wow, that was so much fun!’ It works and it’s so much fun.”

The 46-year-old added:

“Hoda said it was like a first date, and I’m easy and desperate. It just clicked and felt so good. We’re so happy.”

Adding of the experience overall:

“It was hard, everyone saw it. We all went through it, but you know as you say, something really lovely and positive has happened. And I think that’s where we’re focused and we have the best staff.”

We’re so happy it’s all working out!
