How Dax Shephard Explained The 'Nasty' Meaning Of Sabrina Carpenter's Juno To His Daughter

Dax Shepard and his daughter love Sabrina Carpenter… But the lyrics can get a bit uncomfortable!

During Monday’s episode of his Armchair Expert podcast, the CHiPs star gushed about what an “enormous” fan of the Espresso singer he and his 10-year-old daughter Delta are. They apparently listen to her music “every morning” on the way to school! Awww! But one night, the pair got into discussion about her song Juno from her 2024 album Short n’ Sweet, and how the lyrics are… Well… Kinda “nasty.” He explained:

“We were laying in bed last night and we were talking about Juno … She goes, ‘But do you know what Juno is?’ And I go, ‘No.’ And she’s like, ‘Well it’s a movie.’ I’m like, ‘Oh, the movie Juno? Yes, I know.’ [Sabrina’s lyrics] said, ‘I want you to make me Juno’ because it’s a story about a girl who gets pregnant. And I go, ‘That’s a little nasty.’”

But his daughter didn’t quite understand… She responded:

“‘What’s nasty about wanting to have a baby with somebody?’ And I go, ‘Well it’s a teenager, she’s in high school [in the movie].’ And she goes, ‘Oh, she’s in high school?’ So she knew part of the Juno story, she just didn’t know she was in high school.”

LOLz!

Dax went on to explain why that makes the lyrics “nasty”:

“The way she phrased it was like, ‘What’s nasty about wanting to have a baby with someone you love?’ And I was like, ‘Oh no, there’s nothing nasty about that. I’m just saying, ‘I want to get pregnant in high school’ is kind of a nasty, fun lyric. It’s a positive ‘nasty,’ I’m saying.”
