How Hugh Jackman Stepped In To Save Ryan Reynolds From Blake Lively's Legal Drama: SOURCE

Hugh Jackman may not publicly be speaking out in defense of his pal Ryan Reynolds and his wife Blake Lively, but he did just go out of his way to show some support!

Friday marked the opening night of the actor’s new Broadway show, From New York with Love. To celebrate — and to help pull his MCU bestie from the heat of his wife’s legal scandal — Hugh invited Ryan to not only attend but participate!

According to insiders for DailyMail.com on Monday, Hugh has remained quiet about the It Ends With Us lawsuits out of fear of being “dragged” into the drama when he’s dealing with his own difficulties, i.e. an increasingly “messy” divorce from Deborra-Lee Furness after going public with new younger girlfriend Sutton Foster.

Hugh started stepping out with Sutton just as Blake’s legal issue was starting to heat up — something many speculate could have been Hugh’s way of trying to distract from the situation. If true, he’s been showing support for his friends in subtle but sizable ways since this all began! As for why he hasn’t made a statement, the source shared:

“Hugh is one of the only people who Ryan opens up to. He does support Ryan, but he has his divorce to deal with right now, and the last thing he wants to do is be dragged into this.”

That said, inviting the Green Lantern alum to the show was a good compromise, they added:

“Inviting him on stage was Hugh’s way of showing his support without speaking out publicly. He owes Ryan. Deadpool was his saving grace during the break down of his marriage to Deborra-Lee.”

During the show, Ryan surprised the crowd when he stood up and shared a heartfelt message to his co-star, saying:

“I wanted to actually just say, I love this man, I care about this man. […] He is genuinely the best human being I know. And I have four children!”

The Greatest Showman star hysterically replied:

“I love you, Ryan Reynolds. I love you, man. Thanks for coming. And thanks for asking for a free ticket, too.”

The idea Ryan is also a bit of a diva has come up in this lawsuit, so having the opportunity to get up in front of a bunch of folks and look like the nice guy definitely helps his image right now!

Apparently Blake was also invited, but she chose to stay away, the DM source furthered:

“Hugh invited them both to his show, but only Ryan attended. He was told that Blake would have loved to go but had to miss out because she isn’t doing outings. Hugh was also told that they didn’t want to make that super important and special night about them, which is what it would have been had Blake joined her husband.”

Blake hasn’t gone to any formal events since November before she filed a lawsuit against her It Ends With Us co-star Justin Baldoni in December. That said, she was spotted in a selfie on social media over the weekend, so it seems like she’s just trying to make more low-key appearances during this legal matter.

Thoughts?? Do U think it’s weird Hugh hasn’t spoken out in support of Blake? Tell us in the comments (below).
