The Hunger Games Inspires A Competitive Fitness Class!

Hunger Games fitness class
Everyone is getting in on the Hunger Games craze and the movie hasn’t even come out yet!!!
Earlier this month we found a trainer had created exercises based off of the characters, but now New York, Philadelphia, Washington, and Boston Sports Clubs locations are offering a circuit fitness CLASS based off of the widely successful books!
It sounds pretty cool too for all the die-hard fans who have ever dreamt of competing in the Arena themselves. In 50 minutes, a trainer (who players the role of the Gamemaker) leads 10 to 12 participants (who are Panem tributes) through a circuit of 5 moves — Katniss Killers, Capitol Crunches, Jabberjay Jacks, Peeta Presses, and a sprint around the “arena” — and whoever completes it the fastest time is declared the winner.
To make things even more intense, the Gamemaker even declares disasters! The music stops and the players have to return to the “Cornucopia” (a station with variety of fitness tools like weights, matts, etc.) where they have to perform a random exercise, then return to games at the station they left off at.
The program was created by New York Sports Clubs trainer Eric Salvador, who fused the competition he read about in the books with the gym’s version of cross fit that is called Ultimate Fitness Experience. In honor of the major theatrical release, the chain is offering the class FREE of charge to all members until the end of April!
Would U want to participate in a class like this at your gym?
