Well, this is very strange.
Shelia Stadler was very close with her guide dog. So close that before Shelia passed away from cancer, she requested her dog Toffee be euthanized and buried alongside her.
Here’s what a person from the local animal hospital had to say:
“[The move is] unusual in some aspects. It just really depends on what the family wants to do with the dog. Legally they can do whatever they want.”
The dog was apparently VERY unhappy after its owner died.
The same source said:
“[Days before it was euthanized, the dog] wandered aimlessly. I wouldn’t say that’s unusual for a dog to be in mourning, especially if a dog is really close to a person.”
We’re not sure if that was because it missed its dog, or if it sensed it was about to be euthanized.
We personally don’t think this type of request is kosher, or logical.
A guide dog is a very useful animal, and could’ve easily found a new home.
Plus if the woman was dying from cancer, she may have not been in the right state of mind to be making such a monumental decision such as that.
But, hey, that’s just our opinion.
