Jamey Rodemeyer's Mother And Lady GaGa Speak Out Against Bullying

So sad.

On Tuesday, we were devastated to report that 14-year-old Jamey Rodemeyer from Buffalo, NY took his own life due to bullying, after releasing an It Gets Better video (above) back in May.

Now, his mother Tracy Rodemeyer has opened up about her son’s tragic death, and she’s had the following to say about it:

“It hurts me so, to think my son felt like he was not worthy of anything.”

“It really just started with all the boys, cause all the girls just loved him and they always defended him, but all the boys would say, ‘Geez you’re such a girl. Why are you hanging out with all those girls? What are you, a girl? Oh, you must be gay.'”

“The bullies now are still walking around. They get to wake up tomorrow and go to school and see all their friends, but my son will not be given a second chance no matter how much I have prayed. I would have given my own life to turn back the minute we seen him.”

Jamey’s mother has said that she’ll bury her son in a t-shirt “with a message of acceptance and defiance” that reads “Born This Way.”

And speaking of Born This Way, Lady GaGa is showing her support for Jamey too, and she’s posted the following tweets about Jamey’s tragic death:

The past days I’ve spent reflecting, crying, and yelling. I have so much anger. It is hard to feel love when cruelty takes someones life.

Jamey Rodemeyer, 14 yrs old, took his life because of bullying…Bullying must become be illegal. It is a hate crime.

I am meeting with our President. I will not stop fighting. This must end. Our generation has the power to end it. Trend it #MakeALawForJamey

Thanks for showing so much support, GaGa! We appreciate it, and we know that Jamey’s family will be very appreciative as well.

As we said before, we MUST fully commit ourselves to putting a stop to this kind of behavior!

Stay strong, Rodemeyer family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
