Lena Dunham, you are not alone!
The Girls creator recently took to Twitter to call out Seth MacFarlane‘s controversial musical number during the 85th Annual Academy Awards, a tribute to to the actresses who have gone topless on film called “We Saw Your Boobs,” and now, a woman who HAS shown her tittays to the world via film has joined her in speaking out against what many would argue to be blatant sexism…and all-around poor taste!
Jane Fonda!
The iconic actress recently revealed:
“What I really didn’t like was the song and dance number about seeing actresses boobs. I agree with someone who said, ‘If they want to stoop to that, why not list all the penises we’ve seen?’ Better yet, remember that this is a telecast seen around the world watched by families with their children and to many this is neither appropriate or funny. I also didn├óΓé¼Γäót like the remark made about [Quvenzhane Wallis and George Clooney], or the stuff out of Ted‘s mouth and all the comments about what women do to get thin for their dresses. Way too much stuff about women and bodies, as though that’s what defines us.”
Well-spoken!
While we think the Oscars should have known what they were in for when they awarded the Family Guy comedian the hosting duties, his brand of humor, tongue-in-cheek or not, was simply NOT appropriate for this kind of medium, so we completely understand why so many strong, fiercely independent women have something to say about it!
The only way we can evolve and progress is to keep on SPEAKING UP and FIGHTING BACK!
Thanks for doing your part, Jane!
