A 21-year-old article has resurfaced alleging Jared Leto was once known for texting minors.
A New York Post article published in 2005 — that is still live today — has returned to the forefront in 2026 amid the Tron: Ares actor’s latest sexual misconduct accusations… because it alleges he was known for texting teen girls.
The two-decade-old article reports then-33-year-old Jared had been seen jaunting around town with Ashley Olsen and Lindsay Lohan, both of whom were 19 at the time. The article goes on to claim the Requiem for a Dream actor was actively pursuing young models staying at the Maritime Hotel — a place he allegedly booked a stay at while in town with his band 30 Seconds to Mars. A source told the outlet at the time:
“He’s been approaching all the girls and inviting them to his shows. Girls from IMG, Elite, Next, and Women are staying there, and Jared has been hitting on all of them. He’s a serial texter.”

The source went on to claim that some of the young people Jared was allegedly texting at the time included minors:
“He is constantly texting these other 16- and 17-year-old girls. It’s really kind of creepy.”
Now internet users have resurfaced the article, bringing it back to light 21 years later to discuss it on social media sites like X (Twitter) and more in light of the most recent allegations against Leto.
On Wednesday, 10 women came forward against Jared with new accusations of sexual misconduct, sexual assault, statutory rape, and more in BBC’s documentary, Jared Leto: Hollywood’s Dark Secret. One woman claimed Jared had sex with her in the state of California multiple times when she was 17 years old, while another accused him of making several sexually explicit phone calls to her when she was just 16 years old. In response, the Suicide Squad actor strongly denied ALL accusations in a statement to TMZ:
“I have never sexually assaulted anyone in my entire life. These claims are absolutely and categorically false.”
