Jared Leto Shares The Moment He 'Nearly Died' During A Rock Climbing Trip -- See The Video!

Jared Leto has a near death experience while rock climbing.

What a scary close call for Jared Leto!!

Over the weekend, the Suicide Squad actor took to social media and shared he was moments away from nearly losing his life during a rock climbing trip with one of his buddies at Red Rock Canyon. Judging by the pictures and videos he shared of the jaw-dropping experience, we’re so glad to hear the 48-year-old star is alive and well!

Rock climbing can be a lot of fun and get you up close and personal with some of the most stunning views in nature. However, as thrill-seekers of the sport know, there’s a huge risk factor that something could go terribly wrong! As Leto tells it, things nearly went south when the rope used to support him almost gave out:

“Not to sound dramatic, but this is the day I nearly died. Took a pretty good fall climbing with @AlexHonnold at Red Rock. Looked up and within seconds the rope was being cut by the rock while I dangled some 600 ft in the air. I remember looking down at the ground below.”

He continued the chilling firsthand account, adding:

“It was a strange moment – less fear, more matter of fact, and slightly melancholy. The adrenaline came after, when I got back on the wall. But we made it through and lived to see another day ? ?? Overall it was actually quite fun. we continued climbing into the night…”

OK, now take a look at Jared’s vantage point in the shots (below):

OMG!

That view is definitely gorgeous but with the added context of Leto’s accident, it’s scary to think it could’ve been his last. As we mentioned earlier, he could’ve been seriously injured or worse and it’s a good thing he had his climbing buddy Alex Honnold — who scaled Yosemite’s iconic El Capitan vertical rock formation in the 2018 documentary, Free Solo — along with him for backup.

In fact, the two are frequent climbers and Red Rock Canyon happened to be their latest daring adventure. The Fight Club star’s Instagram page features more evidence of their fun times together:

How breathtaking!! He’s much braver than we are, just saying!

Let’s just hope he continues to exercise caution moving forward. Leto is set to star as Dr. Michael Morbius in Marvel‘s Spider-Man spin-off titled Morbius, which follows the comic book character who’s a Nobel Prize-winning biochemist turned vampire. The film hits theaters this summer on July 31.

In the meantime, stay safe, Jared!
