Jelly Roll is channeling heartbreak, hope, and hard-earned perspective into new music.
Just days after news broke that the country star had filed for divorce from wife Bunnie Xo following nearly a decade of marriage, the singer released a brand-new track called Hands Up on Wednesday. And while the timing is certainly getting fans talking, the song itself is all about perseverance, faith, and pushing forward when life gets tough.

In the uplifting anthem, Jelly Roll encourages listeners to keep their heads high and their hands raised, even if they’re far from perfect. Lyrics include this stanza (below):
“Everybody get your hands up / Evеrybody put your hands up / If you ain’t perfect but you try / Put ‘em way up to the sky / Touchin’ heaven kinda high / Ain’t that where we wanna go when we die / Whoa, whoa, whoa / Just put your hands up / Everybody put your hands up.”
Wow.
Ahead of the release, the 41-year-old musician took to Instagram to share a deeply personal video reflecting on his dramatic weight-loss journey.
The vid featured throwback footage of Jelly Roll walking in the rain during the early days of his fitness journey, alongside a candid discussion about the promises he used to make to himself but failed to keep. He explained that one rainy day became a turning point when he decided he was done putting off change and committed to following through on his goals no matter what.
The clip then shifted to present-day footage showing a much fitter Jelly Roll running through the rain with his hands raised in the air. See it for yourself (below):
Of course, the new music arrives amid major changes in his personal life. As we’ve reported, Jelly Roll filed for divorce from Bunnie Xo and cited irreconcilable differences.
So, there’s a LOT going on in both of their lives at this point — and, now, that includes new music!
