Jennifer Garner apparently knew Ben Affleck “was in a bad place,” and had no choice but “to intervene.”
As we reported, on Wednesday night, the Batman actor sought treatment at a rehab facility following an intervention from the Alias actress.

According to an US Weekly source on Thursday, the 46-year-old starlet was “well aware of what was going on” regarding her estranged husband’s battle with alcoholism.
A source explained:
“Ben told her he was done with Lindsay [Shookus] and she knew he was drinking again… Ben is not good at being alone. She knew he was in a bad place recently and that she was going to have to intervene.”
As we wrote earlier this month, Affleck and the Saturday Night Live producer broke up because “the distance just proved to be too much for them right now.”
Despite their complicated relationship, “Jen is the only one Ben listens to.”
“The last few weeks have been difficult… Jen is the only one Ben listens to. She has been down this road with him for years and is the only one that can really get through.”
Although Jen and a sober coach staged the intervention, Ben “asked Jen for help and wants to get better.” The insider continued:
“Jen fears that certain people in his life will lie for him and enable him. She’s really the only one that is devoted to helping him stay sober… Ben wants to get help and knows he needs it. He’s going to be at a live-in facility with a new program and a different approach. He loves his kids and wants to be there for them. He knows he needs to stay sober and healthy for that to happen.”
Out of everything, Garner has one primary concern: her three kids with Affleck — Violet, 12, Seraphina, 9, and son Samuel, 6.
According to a People source:
“Her number one concern is the kids.”
Though Jen filed papers in April 2016, the two are still not officially divorced. According to the insider, Garner hopes to finalize her split soon, but “struggles” with questions like, “Is Ben healthy enough to have custody? Can she rely on him to co-parent?”
Although Affleck has been spotted out with Playboy model Shauna Sexton, “what [Garner] ultimately cares about is [Ben’s] sobriety… Her concern right now is not who he is dating.”
