Jennifer Lawrence is one of the hardest working stars in Hollywood- but that doesn’t make her a slave!
Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle director David O. Russell was trying to illustrate how hard he thought J-Law was being worked, and he went a bit offsides, comparing the Hunger Games franchise to slavery.
Even he knew it was not a wise thing to say; he also alluded to the trouble the statement would cause.
Well, now that he’s reaped the whirlwind of criticism, David has wasted no time showing his regret. He said:
“Clearly I used a stupid analogy in a poor attempt at humor. I realized it the minute I said it, and I am truly sorry.”
Everyone misses the mark sometimes with their hyperbole, especially when they’re in a hyper state like award season.
At least he understood that he had gone too far!
The director will just have to learn to be his own editor when it comes to public speaking!
