Time for some damage control!
Jennifer Lopez better figure out a good explanation because she is boiling in a hot pot of controversy after performing a birthday serenade for the President of Turkmenistan.
Sure, a birthday seems pretty harmless but President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow is accused of widespread human rights abuses in Turkmenistan which include extreme censorship, ethnic repression and even utilizing torture!
Our girl reportedly performed a small concert at a non-politcal event hosted by China National Petroleum Corp. which turned into her singing the President happy birthday after a last-minute request was made, but her rep has already jumped to her defense:
“Had there been knowledge of human rights issues any kind, Jennifer would not have attended.”
Ahhh, girl, we love you, but it’s called Google!
We know J.Lo wasn’t planning to sing to this man and she most def doesn’t agree with any of the stuff he’s accused of, but celebs – or at least one of the MANY people working for them – need to Google before going to parties!
Right, Hilary Swank??
Our advice to save face? Donate that paycheck!
