A contestant on a recent episode of Jeopardy lost more than just the money.

That’s because on Friday’s brand-new episode of the syndicated game show, a man named Tom lost his pride when he buzzed in on what he thought was a pretty straightforward answer.
Well, when he asked, ‘What is the age of consent?’ people around the country instantly experienced some next-level secondhand embarrassment.
That’s because the answer Alex Trebek actually read was:
“In common law, the age of this, signaling adulthood, is presumed to be 14 in boys & 12 in girls.”
As in, puberty, not the age of consent. Yikes!
Luckily, not everyone on the panel gave bad answers — in fact, contestant Kerry is the reigning champ going into Tuesday night’s new episode!
The whole situation is almost too cringe-inducing to fully write out, so you’re just going to have to watch it for yourself.
