Jeremy Renner Shuts Down His 'Official' App After Trolls Impersonate Him & Mess With His Fans!

Jeremy Renner shuts down fan app over troll problem.

This is why Jeremy Renner fans can’t have nice things!

The Avengers: Endgame star took to his Jeremy Renner Official app on Wednesday to make a sad announcement: he’s shutting the app down due to an infestation of trolls who were apparently impersonating the actor and heckling his devoted “Rennies.”

Noting how these “clever individuals” have turned his safe space into “everything [he] detest[s] and can’t or won’t condone,” the 48-year-old wrote:

“The app has jumped the shark. Literally. Due to clever individuals that were able to manipulate ways to impersonate me and others within the app I have asked ESCAPEX, the company that runs this app to shut it down immediately. What was supposed to be a place for fans to connect with each other has turned into a place that is everything I detest and can’t or won’t condone. My sincere apologies for this to have not turned out the way it was intended.”

Aw. Sry, Rennies!

Before it was tainted by trolls, fans used the app to communicate with each other and to see all of the star’s social media posts in one place. Users could also buy “stars” or earn them by being active on the app, which quickly became the hub for Rennies worldwide to talk all things Renner.

But, alas, this oasis was short-lived. The app was soon riddled with bullying and negative comments, causing JR himself to attempt to rectify the situation by enforcing more content moderation in an updated version.

Unfortunately, tighter modding did little to counter the undying negativity, which evolved into new forms when trolls figured out how to impersonate the actor and others to harass fans.

As you can see from this screenshot allegedly taken from the app (below), things got a bit out of hand:

While the Rennies tried to fight the trolls back with their own content, the Oscar nominee finally decided to throw in the towel and delete his app once and for all.

He concluded in his farewell note:

“To all the super fans who have supported me with your words or encouragement, amazing art, stories and time shared on the app, a genuine THANK YOU and I hope to see you on Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, and Facebook.”

All good things come to an end, we guess!
