Illinois is in the midst of an intense battle to legalize same-sex marriage, and Jesse Tyler Ferguson isn’t afraid to stand on the front lines!
The gay rights’ advocate and Modern Family man visited Chicago with his fianc├â┬⌐ Justin Mikita and helped promote the inspirational message through his non-profit foundation Tie the Knot.
In a statement, he said:
“I certainly respect everyone’s right to their opinion, but I think at the end of the day we all have to agree that treating any American as a second-class citizen is not OK.”
It’s hard to argue with that!

Between his support and President Obama‘s, Illinois will hopefully keep fighting the good fight and someday soon be the 10th state to permit all couples who love each other to marry!
