This is WILD to hear! How scary!
As we’re sure you remember, the absolutely humiliating and embarrassing 2024 debate between Donald Trump and Joe Biden will go down in history for all the wrong reasons. We mean, seriously, these two couldn’t be professional for five minutes! And on top of that, poor Joe just wasn’t making sense at ALL. And according to Jill Biden, it was a terrifying moment.
In her upcoming memoir, View From the East Wing, the former First Lady opens up about how she was scared the former President might’ve been drugged. What?! She wrote, per DailyMail.com:
“Is this a stroke? I felt like we were watching an AI hologram of the man we knew, and the hologram was glitching. Has he been drugged? … [I remember thinking] Oh God – will people watching assume this is how he is all the time?”

And while she admitted elsewhere in the book that Joe “was definitely aging” during his presidency, she was floored at his debate performance:
“The truth was, Joe was not who he was on a day-to-day basis in that debate. Nothing explained what I was seeing. To this day, I still don’t know what happened. Why wasn’t he making any sense? It was inexplicable to me.”
She even said Joe himself got offstage and said “I really f**ked up, didn’t I?” OMG!
Jill was so concerned, in fact, she said she wondered if he’d accidentally gotten drugged with codeine or Ambien, or maybe he was suffering some sort of health issue. She said:
“I only wish I had the answer.”
Wild!!!
In a new preview of her CBS Sunday Morning interview that goes up this coming Sunday, she touched again on how she thought this could have been a stroke at the time. She told host Rita Braver:
“I was frightened. I had never, ever seen Joe like that before or since. I don’t know what happened. As I watched it, I thought, ‘Oh my god, he’s having a stroke.’ It scared me to death.”

Of course, after this debate, Joe stepped down, and Kamala Harris would go on to be the Democratic nominee. We seriously can’t imagine how scared Jill must’ve been in that moment!
