Those darn Dick Clark Productions were at it again on Sunday night!
Just like Mariah Carey‘s New Year’s Eve performance fail, Jimmy Fallon was foiled with a technical flub when his teleprompter went out during his Golden Globes monologue.

But unlike Mimi, the Saturday Night Live alum had a secret weapon up his sleeve in case of such an emergency: Justin Timberlake!
At least, that’s what the host said he was thinking when the glitch interrupted his award show opening.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight at NBCUniversal‘s after party, he said:
“It’s like, ‘OK…Justin? Where’s Justin Timberlake? Please, Justin, help me out on this one, what do I do?’… If I have any problem in life, I’m like, ‘Where’s Justin Timberlake?’ and he usually solves the problem. Which he did tonight as well.”

Unsurprisingly, the Tonight Show host dealt with the technical troubles like a pro, and later on provided a timely joke about the Elusive Chanteuse’s similar issues, quipping:
“I just got off the phone with Mariah Carey├óΓé¼┬ª she thinks Dick Clark Productions sabotaged my monologue.”
Admitting the award show’s writers came up with the joke on the spot, Fallon thinks the diva would have a good laugh over the light jab, adding:
“She would laugh at it…We’ll have a drink over this. It’ll be fun.”
The comedian also spoke on the night’s other unexpected moment — Brad Pitt‘s surprise appearance amid his nasty divorce from Angelina Jolie — where Fallon had nothing but good things to say about the actor.

He continued:
“I love him and I love that he did it. That was really nice of him to do that. And he’s probably going through some tough times right now, so I think he needs a little love. Everyone does.”
