We were horribly disappointed to learn that Broadway would not be dimming the lights for Joan Rivers. And fortunately we weren't alone.
Thanks to an outcry on social media, the Broadway League rethought its decision to honor the Tony nominee.
Executive director Charlotte St. Martin explained what reversed their ruling. She wrote:
"Joan Rivers loved Broadway and we loved her. Due to the outpouring of love and respect for Joan Rivers from our community and from her friends and fans worldwide, the marquees of Broadway theatres in New York will be dimmed in her memory tonight, at exactly 6:45pm for one minute."
We're so glad to hear Joan got the tribute she deserves.
At quarter to 7 p.m. we hope everyone along the Great White Way participated in a moment of silence for the woman we never wanted to shut up.
We'll miss you, Joan.
