Yikes! That’s quite a hit to take.
Whether it was the terrible trailers or terrible reviews from critics, nobody went to go see Disney’s big budget box office bomb John Carter. As a result, Disney expects to lose $200 and explained in a statement:
“We expect the film to generate an operating loss of approximately $200 million during our second fiscal quarter ending March 31. As a result, our current expectation is that the Studio segment will have an operating loss of between $80 and $120 million for the second quarter.”
This was supposed to be a sure-fire hit too! The studio already had the same creative team working on the script for the sequel, John Carter: The Gods of Mars. Doesn’t look like that’s going to be happening because if people don’t care about poor John Carter, they aren’t going to care about those Gods either.
Although a shirtless Taylor Kitsch was a huge draw for us, we skipped this one. Did U see John Carter? Is it worth checking out or should the audiences continue to avoid this flick?
