May the fashion gods please wave their magic wands and make this happen!
Oscar de la Renta has been vocal about his support for John Galliano for a while now, even letting him spend three weeks at his atelier during Fashion Week in February.
Afterwards, the designer admitted that he’d like to work with Galliano again in the future, and now it looks like it could really be happening!
Alex Bolen, CEO of Oscar de la Renta, Inc. recently said:
“As we have said before, we are deeply impressed with John├óΓé¼Γäós talent and would love to find a way to work with him in the future. To date, we have not found that way.”
Some have speculated that Galliano might be getting groomed to replace de la Renta, who is 81 years old and may be thinking of retirement, but the designer has waved those rumors away, saying:
“Am I retiring? Is John going to replace me? Certainly not. I hope to be around for a long time. I have always worried about what will happen to the brand when I am no longer here, so I plan to be here for a very, very long time. But having my family involved in the business, now I know there is continuity. To be clear, my only fear that I have every morning is, ├óΓé¼╦£When are they going to fire me?├óΓé¼Γäó”
Despite that, however, de la Renta is still very much in favor of having Galliano on his team, and has repeatedly only had the most complimentary words for him:
“I work with people. I don├óΓé¼Γäót work by myself. It├óΓé¼Γäós so wonderful to have somebody with an eye. He├óΓé¼Γäóll show me something and we talk about it. We have a great love affair.”
Aww! The more we hear about these two and their working dynamic, the more we’re convinced that we’ll see them collaborating again very soon!
