A new claim has surfaced in the undying legal battle between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard.
According to The Blast, the Pirates of the Caribbean star alleges his ex-wife “put a cigarette” out on the actor’s right cheek after she allegedly threw a bottle at him which severed his finger while they were in Australia in 2015.
The latest claim comes in an amended response as part of his defamation suit against News Group Newspapers Ltd, which owns the British tabloid The Sun, over a 2018 article that labeled the star a “wife-beater.”

Depp’s team also submitted a photo of the actor, obtained by The Blast, that was purportedly taken in an Australian hospital a few hours after the alleged incident took place. The photo (which you can see HERE) shows the performer laying on a hospital gurney with his hand bandaged and what his lawyers claim is the cigarette burn on his cheek.
Adam Waldman, Depp’s attorney, said this new allegation was filed in response to The Sun’s defense of Heard’s “abuse hoaxes,” and served as “more evidence” of the actress’ “vicious violence” against the 56-year-old.
He explained in a statement:
“Today we replied in court to the Sun’s cut and paste ‘defense’ of Amber Heard’s latest abuse hoaxes. And we detailed more evidence of Amber Heard’s vicious violence against Mr. Depp, who was the actual domestic violence victim in the relationship… And there is more evidence to come. Yet Ms. Heard remains propped up by hoax-enablers, including Rupert Murdoch’s tabloid the Sun. Does the #metoo movement care about male victims too?”
Heard’s team, unsurprisingly, categorically denies the cigarette burn allegation. Her attorney Eric George said in a statement to the outlet:
“This allegation is absurd, offensive and categorically untrue. This photograph proves nothing – apart from the fact that Johnny Depp is desperate to throw out any outlandish allegation to deflect attention from his physical and ongoing psychological abuse of Amber Heard.”
Per the publication, Depp claims the fight began after his then-wife spoke with his attorneys about his “intention to enter into a post-nuptial agreement” — which, he claimed, caused Heard “to go into a rage.”

The actor alleges he had been evading Heard throughout the day but ultimately, after not having a drink for over a year, he “sought to avoid Ms. Heard by going to the downstairs bar in the house. She followed him, screaming at him abusively.”
That’s when the actor claims “he poured himself a vodka and drank it,” which allegedly caused Heard to throw a bottle at him and miss.
He alleges he then had another drink before Heard threw the second bottle, which resulted in Depp’s notorious severed finger. At that point, Depp claims Heard “then put a cigarette out on [Depp’s] right cheek.”
While Depp admits he then “wrote on a mirror and walls in blood and oil paint,” he says he was in shock at the time. He denies Heard’s allegations that he urinated in the house.
