Johnny Depp Admits To Being Sober For 1.5 Years!

It’s nothing to hide, but we completely understand why Johnny Depp, who is notoriously shy about his personal life, would want to keep something so personal to himself!
Johnny has given up alcohol — but he wants to be clear that it was not because he was an alcoholic… it was just causing him some problems! He refuses to use the word ‘quit’ and still likes drinking non-alcoholic beer!
Here’s what he said about it all in Rolling Stone:

“I just decided that I pretty much got everything I could out of it. I investigated wine and spirits thoroughly, and they certainly investigated me as well, and we found out that we got along beautifully, but maybe too well.
“No. I don├óΓé¼Γäót have the physical need for the drug alcohol. No, it├óΓé¼Γäós more my medication, my self-medication over the years to calm the circus. Once the circus kicks in, the festivities in the brain, it can be ruthless.├óΓé¼┬¥

We love Johnny too much to tell him that that sounds a lot like needing alcohol like someone would need medication! LOLz!
It doesn’t matter at this point, though! So why did he drink other than to calm the circus, and to have a good time with Hunter S. Thompson?

“I’m kind of socially awkward. And it was always a great crutch. Mingling at parties and stuff like that has always been not a nice experience for me. It’s just not comfortable. Or, like, talk shows used to be in the beginning. So I found I needed to drink in those situations. Just slam a couple down and go, ‘OK, I can muster up enough talk to meander my way through this thing and get out the other side unscathed.”

We’ve seen you in the past 1.5 years as a sober man, and we’re happy to tell you that you’re just as charming as you’ve ever been — even without the booze! Keep it up, Johnny!
It is MUCH healthier for both your body, and dealing with any issues, if you’re not on the bottle!
