This has got to sting for Kate Gosselin…
On Wednesday, Collin Gosselin announced he wrote a memoir coming out in the fall titled In the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood. It’s set to expose the dark secrets of his childhood, and it’s definitely not going to be a good look for his mom!
But to make matters worse, shortly after announcing the book, Collin returned to social media to wish his “real mom” a happy birthday! And, no, we’re not talking about Kate! The 22-year-old was paying tribute to his dad Jon‘s ex Colleen Conrad! He wrote:
“I didn’t plan this at all, but coincidentally on the day of the official announcement of my book, it is Colleen’s birthday. She is the strongest woman I know, who stepped in at the toughest part of my life and CHOSE to be a mother to me. Happy birthday to my wonderful, hardworking, passionate, and I could go on… to my real mom
I love you so much. Also I had to add a Rascal Flatts song, because we always sing Rascal Flatts songs together.”

He continued:
“The love you feel for a mom you were given is incredible. But the love you feel for a mom that CHOSE you is something so powerful. I am so fortunate
@colleen.conrad122 I love you so much”

Jon and Colleen grew up together and started dating in 2014, about five years after his divorce from the reality star. They split in 2021 but have remained friends.
Collin has had a tumultuous relationship with Kate. After she sent him to a behavioral health facility in 2016, he moved in with his father in 2018 and has remained estranged from most of his family since. He’s been through a lot. We’re glad to hear that Colleen has been such a strong support system for him! Everyone needs and deserves that!
That being said, every story has two sides, and we wonder what Kate’s will be in response to all this. We can only assume at this point she felt she had legitimate reason to get Collin behavioral help. And if she hadn’t sought such help, would it have been considered neglect on her part in some other way? Or was it just a bad call all around? Sometimes it seems parents are damned if they do, damned if they don’t.
